About Us

The Mending Therapist

At The Mending Therapist, we believe that healing unfolds within the safety of trusted relationship. Life can become heavy, and pain often appears in ways that are difficult to name or carry alone. You don't have to face it alone without support. We walk with you through what feels painful or fragmented with compassion, presence, and professional care.

Our counseling is shaped by Christian faith and guided by truth, grace, and the steadfast love of God. We believe that lasting healing occurs when both the clinical and the spiritual are allowed to work together. Our therapeutic foundation is psychodynamic, exploring how early experiences, relationships, and internal narratives shape our present way of being. Building upon that, we integrate Emotionally Focused Therapy, attachment theory, Gestalt principles, Internal Family Systems, and trauma-informed practice to create a deeply relational, experiential, and integrative model of care.

The word mending holds profound meaning in both psychology and theology. From a psychological perspective, mending reflects the process of repair and integration, where what has been wounded or disconnected begins to heal through safety, reflection, and understanding. It involves restoring the self to wholeness as clients reconnect with their emotions, relationships, and sense of identity. In the therapeutic process, mending is not about erasing pain but transforming it through compassion, insight, and acceptance.

From a Christian worldview, mending is an expression of divine grace. It mirrors the redemptive work of God, who restores what is broken and brings life where there has been loss. Scripture speaks of this renewal through the promise that He restores the soul and binds up the brokenhearted. Mending, in this sacred sense, is a partnership with God’s healing presence. It is a process of redemption where brokenness becomes a testimony of restoration and peace.

Our approach reflects a hybrid model of trauma and faith integration, consistent with the ethical codes that guide our profession. We honor the diversity of human experience while maintaining a commitment to professional integrity, cultural humility, and evidence-based care. Each session is grounded in safety, collaboration, and compassion, creating space where both psychological insight and spiritual truth can bring renewal.

Mending is not a single moment of change but a sacred process that unfolds thread by thread and moment by moment. That is the heart behind our name and the heart behind our work: to hold space for healing, to honor your story, and to walk with you as wholeness retakes shape through grace and care.

About Me.

My name is Lisa Peredia, and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (CA LMFT 98988) with more than thirteen years of experience walking with individuals and families through healing and change. I care deeply about creating a space where people feel seen, valued, and supported as they work through the parts of life that feel heavy or painful.

Much of my experience has focused on trauma, anxiety, grief, and relational struggles. Over the years, I have worked in schools, community settings, and private practice, always guided by compassion, curiosity, and trauma-informed care. I also have the privilege of supervising and mentoring new counselors who are learning to care for others with skill and integrity.

My relationship with Christ is the foundation of who I am and how I approach therapy. It shapes how I listen, how I hold space for others, and how I see hope at work even in difficult seasons. You do not have to share my beliefs to be here. My goal is to meet you where you are, to offer care without judgment, and to walk with you as you begin to find healing and peace.

After many years in this field, I still consider this work sacred. It is an honor to sit with people in their stories, to witness courage and growth, and to see the quiet ways that renewal begins.
